Rare and unusual - Brewster & Ingrahams - American Steeple clock c1850, with mahogany veneer on a pine case, two train striking movement striking the hours on a coiled gong, with original trade label pasted in the rear of the case, dial painted with Roman numerals, makers name, minute track and steel spade hands, fully glazed door with original opaque etched glass tablet and visible pendulum.
Brewster and Ingrahams were one of the earlier American clockmaking companies, forming a partnership in 1843. Brewster and Ingrahams early shelf clocks were fitted with patent brass springs. This clock is a good and rare example and retains its original brass springs.
