A mid-19th century Irish mahogany cased longcase clock by William Sprat, Saintfield, Ireland, with a swans neck pediment with wooden patera and finial, with a recessed break arch hood door flanked by two turned and ringed columns, trunk with canted corners and raised panels with a matching rectangular flat topped door, on a rectangular plinth with conforming canted corners and a flat base (feet missing) , a fully painted break arch dial with matching spandrels and a depiction of a country house and lake to the arch, with Roman numerals and minute track, subsidiary seconds dial and date disc behind an arched aperture, with matching unstamped brass hands and painted depiction of birds of paradise to the dial centre, dial pinned via a steel false plate to an eight day rack striking movement, striking the hours on a cast bell. With pendulum and weights.
Notes: The Sprat family were prolific Irish clockmakers working in Ireland during the 18th and 19th century, William first working in Ardmillan (Ireland) then Saintfield d1848.
